Walliams Week

Walliams week is fast approaching, June 25th to July 1st. To begin to build excitement I put up a window display outside the library. The children have commented on it repeatedly, asking what we are doing, if I have the anniversary books in the library, as well as reserving copies of the latest release! I... Continue Reading →

The Infinite Lives of Maisie Day

I was engrossed in this book as soon as I had read the first chapter. Maisie is a loveable if quirky character. Her relationship with her sister is a main thread through the story as is the science! The science is written in the book in such an intricate way that it does not get... Continue Reading →

New Titles

Two great new titles for our school library both suitable for years 5 and 6.  Both are debut novels. The two books tell very different stories although they both take us on an exciting adventure.  The characters in both books are likeable and draw you into the story. Both books highlight what it is to... Continue Reading →

50th anniversary

Lovely pop up display to celebrate 50th anniversary of The Tiger who Came to Tea ☕️  🐯 🍰 Further celebrations later in the month as the book will be included in our Picture Book Picnic.

This year 15 of our year 5 children took part and really enjoyed filling their passports with miniature stickers of the books read. Our winner wasn't the same as the overall winner but that didn't matter. The... Continue Reading →

Literary Weekend

Looking at the background to the magic and folklore found at the heart of the Harry Potter stories.  The exhibition is full of original first drafts from J.K.Rowling herself as well... The Reading Game

A fabulous addition to our school library, at Librarianstale The Reading Game from Carel Press. Choose 8 genre cards, set those out on tables along with 4 or 5 library books from each genre.  The children then are divided into groups of between 3-5 and given an Explorer map. They then visit each table in their... Continue Reading →

Spooky goings on at the library

Halloween has arrived at Librarianstale causing lots of excitement!   The skeleton umbrella makes an excellent centre piece especially when decorated with a few spooky cut-outs.  The display book shelf adds to the fun with Halloween decorations mingled in with a few suggested reads. All the children want to pay a visit but the lucky few that... Continue Reading →

Here at Librarianstale we try to keep up to date with the latest trends. The latest display in the school hall 'We are reading...' brings together all the wonderful books being shared in the classrooms during this half term.  The children loved giving their opinions so far and choosing the emoji's for the books created...
