Library Books!

Favourite books about books!

These few picture books are just a few which can be found in our library all about books.

One of my favourites is Bats at the Library by Brian Lies.  It is a very simple story about a window being left open at the local library where the bats gain entrance.  After the adventure of exploring the library and books the bats all settle down for story time. The illustrations are full of detail and humour; including bats and books hanging upside down to read.  My favourite illustrations are of the bats dressed as famous book characters, the children love guessing how many they can recognise – Red Riding Hood, King Arthur, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Rabbit, to name just a few. You actually notice something different in the pictures every time you look.

It has a lovely rhyming story and is appealing to both boys and girls.  It conveys how books take you into new worlds, new adventures beautifully; obviously written by a book and library lover.
