Ottoline and the Yellow Cat – Chris Riddell

To begin with who wouldn’t want to pick up this book and take a look; the cover is so appealing.

Ottoline is a girl who lives with her best friend Mr Munroe; a Norwegian bog creature.  Her parents are away travelling leaving her at home to look after the collections (of which there are intricate illustrations).

Ottoline is intrigued by a series of high-powered burglaries which have taken place but remain unsolved.  Meanwhile Mr Munroe has noticed a strange number of lost lap-dog posters appearing in the neighbourhood.  Is there a connection?

Ottoline and Mr Munroe soon come up with a plan, will the mysteries be solved?

Every page is illustrated with beautiful line drawings and the story moves along quickly.

I would recommend this book to early readers who are looking for an exciting story, 6 years upwards.
